Kelly Baird: Champion for Diversity and Inclusion in ABA
Heyy BCBA Ruby Here,
Today, I want to shine a spotlight on Kelly Baird, a trailblazer in the ABA community. Kelly is the founder of Black Women in Behavior Analysis Appreciation Day (BWIBAAD) and a distinguished Clinical Trauma Specialist. She’s a passionate advocate for diversity, inclusion, and representation in the field of ABA, making significant strides through her leadership of initiatives like TAP (The ABA Pathfinders) and MOBBAC.
Kelly’s commitment to promoting trauma-informed care, autism support, and fostering community collaboration is something that inspires me every day. Beyond her professional success, Kelly is also a dedicated mother to a nonvocal child with autism, which adds a deeply personal connection to her work. Her dedication to expanding inclusive ABA programs, especially within Historically Black Colleges and Universities, is something that resonates with my own mission to ensure we create a field that truly serves everyone.
Kelly's advocacy is not just about the science—it's about making sure that everyone, whether clinician or client, has the opportunity to thrive in a supportive, diverse environment.
Let’s take a page from Kelly’s book and continue working toward making ABA a place where every individual is seen, heard, and valued.
Check out Kelly’s work and join her efforts to make a meaningful impact in the ABA community.
